Transfigured through prayer.

And as He prayed, the fashion of His countenance was altered, and His raiment was white and glistering” (Luke 9:29 KJV)

The change we see in our Lord’s countenance during His prayer serves as a powerful reminder of how transformative genuine prayer can be, altering our spiritual “garments” and renewing us.

Prayer serves as a transformative experience, not just spiritually but in the very “fashion of our countenance”—our inner state radiates outwardly.

Prayerlessness, carnality, and pride can stain our spiritual garment.

These can hinder our spiritual growth, cloud our connection with God, and even create vulnerabilities in our lives. Through sincere, focused prayer, we are given the opportunity to cleanse ourselves, strengthen our spiritual defense, and step closer to embodying Christ’s example. It’s a reminder that prayer not only brings us peace but also has the power to purify and renew us, allowing God’s light to shine more brightly in and through us.

Prayer is indeed a sacred and transformative space where we are reshaped and renewed, experiencing the grace and love of God in profound ways that not only affect our lives but also our relationships with others.

It is in those quiet and intimate moments with God that we are strengthened and empowered to reflect His love and serve others effectively. These moments of prayer allow us to draw upon the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the sweet fellowship of the Holy Spirit, which strengthens us for the work of the Lord and enables us to cultivate healthy relationships with others.

Prayer transfigures us, it changes our inward man to reflect the glorious image of our Lord Jesus Christ. Remember when Moses separated himself unto God through fasting and prayer, the glorious power of God radiated upon his face so much that the Bible says the children of Israel could not look upon his face because it shined with the light of God (Exodus 34:35). Moses had to cover his face with a veil. He had paid the price, sacrificed his time and devoted himself to seek the face of God through prayer.

When we engage in prayer with earnestness, seeking God diligently and sincerely, His glorious presence saturates us, leading to a transformative journey from one level of glory to another.

My prayer is that the Lord will inspire you to dedicate more time to private prayers. May He unveils the hidden truths and mysteries of His Kingdom to you. Particularly, those pertaining to the future, as it is written in the Bible that “the secret of the Lord is with those who fear Him, and He will reveal His covenant to them” (Psalm 24:14).
