“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven” Matthew 18:18. NIV.
It is a truth that one must first bind the devil on earth through prayer before intervention is sought from heaven. It is necessary to release what Satan has ensnared before action is taken on our behalf by God in heaven.
Prayer serves as a conversation between oneself and their heavenly father. God’s love for us ensures that He desires the best for us. However, He prioritizes His Word above all else. It is important to make requests known to God first, as stated in Philippians 4:6, in seeking His blessings.
It is important to recognize that the favor of God does not come through prayer, exemplifying the beauty of His grace. An illustration of this can be found in the selection of the Virgin Mary to bear Jesus Christ, where favor was bestowed by God without the need for prayer.
The Bible says, “Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary you have found favor with God” (Luke 1:30).
In 2 Chronicles 7:14 God says,
“ If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and I will forgive their sins and heal the land”.
The passage cited serves as evidence that man is required to pray before God will intervene on his behalf. As stated by God, in order for Him to hear from heaven, forgive sins, and heal the land, His people must first pray. It is incumbent upon individuals to initiate prayer before God will act in their favor.
In Acts 2:21, God said, “And everyone who call on the name of the Lord will be saved”.
We have to call on God first before He saves us. How do we call on God? We call on God in prayer.
God said in Jeremiah 33:3,
“Call on me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know”.
We must call on God first and He promises to answer us. In Acts 4:31, the Bible says,
“After they have prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly”.
The disciples found it necessary to engage in prayer prior to experiencing any significant manifestations. Prior to the infusion of the Holy Spirit into their beings, they made it a point to engage in prayer. Similarly, it is imperative for us to prioritize prayer before seeking intervention from the God.
Remember in Matthew 7:7, Jesus said “Ask and it shall be given to you”. In other words, you must pray before God will grant you the desires of your heart.
In Luke 9:29, the Bible says,
“As He was praying, the appearance of His face changed and His clothes became as bright as a flash of lightening”.
Jesus had to pray first before the appearance of His face was changed by the glory of God.
Prayer serves not to alter the nature of God, but rather transforms the individual who commits themselves to its practice. Our transformation and spiritual growth occur incrementally when prayer becomes a central aspect of our lives.
While many anticipate divine intervention, it is essential to remember that God awaits our initiative in reaching out to Him through prayer.
Remember in Daniel chapter 10:1-20 , Daniel set himself apart and prayed before God unleashed Angel Gabriel to bring him the answer to his prayer.
In the book of Daniel, specifically in chapter 10:1-20, it is mentioned that Daniel dedicated himself to prayer before the Lord sent the Angel Gabriel to provide him with an answer.
Today, the Lord is prepared to answer your prayers. As your Heavenly Father, He will not withhold any good thing from you as long as you walk in righteousness.
My earnest prayer is that the Lord fulfills all your needs in accordance with His abundance in glory through Christ Jesus. May the Lord graciously answer your supplications and lead you on the path ordained by His divine will for your life.
