AT THE FEET OF JESUS

There are many different ways and postures one can approach God when they come before Him in prayer. Some pray standing up, others lay prostrate on the floor, while others kneel down or even sit down. Is there any significance in the way we posture ourselves when we approach God and come before Him in prayer?

There are certain individuals in the Bible who knelt at the feet of Jesus when they were in need and got God’s attention very quickly. In Luke 8:41 and 51-54 the Bible says,

And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue. And he fell down at Jesus feet and begged Him to come to his house, for he had an only daughter about twelve years of age, and she was dying”.

Vs 51-54,
“When He came into the house, He permitted no one to go in except Peter, James, and John, and the father and mother of the girl. Now all wept and mourned for her; but He said, “Do not weep; she is not dead, but sleeping. And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead. But He put them all outside, took her by the hand and called, saying, “Little girl, arise.” Then her spirit returned, and she arose immediately. And He commanded that she be given something to eat”.

Jairus fell down at the feet of Jesus and begged Him to come and heal his 12 year old daughter. Falling on your knees is a form of humility, it’s a way to demonstrate honour, its a form of submission, and surrender.

In Luke 8:27-29, there was a man who had an encounter with Jesus. The man had a mental health problem. He was lunatic, he was insane. The Bible records that when the man met Jesus, he fell down before Him (as a form of surrender). We read,

“And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, which had devils long time, and ware no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not. For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man” (Luke 8:27-29 KJV).

When you learn to surrender and lay your burdens at the feet of Jesus, He is able to lift the load off your back just as He did on the cross at Calvary for the entire human race. At the cross, they nailed both of the feet of Jesus. Therefore, when you kneel at His nail piercing feet by faith, you will encounter His grace, mercy and compassion and there is a perfect exchange. He will take away your agony and pain and replace them with divine strength and tranquility. He is the only person anointed to liberate you from all your troubles.

In Luke 7:36-38, the Bible says that a woman who was a sinner had a unique experience with Jesus where she washed Jesus feet with her tears and an expensive perfume.

In Luke 77:36-38, we read,
And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to meat. And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee’s house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, and stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment”.

When we learn to surrender at the feet of Jesus, whether in worship or in prayer, He lifts us up and we are never the same because His divine touch always brings healing and deliverance. The touch of Jesus releases supernatural virtue to heal incurable diseases (Mark 5:30).

The touch of Jesus removes spiritual shackles and sets people free. It removes confusion, doubt and double mindedness. The touch of Jesus removes fear and anxiety and replaces them with confidence, faith and courage. The touch of Jesus brings prophetic insight, it always brings hope into a hopeless situation.

In Revelation 1:17, when the Apostle John saw the resurrected Christ, he fell at His feet (as a form of surrender) and Jesus reached out and lay His hand on him diffusing the spirit of fear from him.

And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as deadAnd he laid his right hand upon me, saying unto me, Fear not; I am the first and the last” (Revelations 1:17).

I pray that the hands of the Lord will touch your life as you learn to surrender your entire being to Him. I pray that the Holy Spirit will give you an experience that leaves a divine mark on your life and that you will have a testimony to share with people across the globe in Jesus matchless name, Amen.
